INTERLOCKS

The goal of this project is to collaborate with a partner to design and build a full-scale, furnituresized wood structure spanning between two supports that can carry substantial loads from above.

My partner and I experiment with differen joints and concepts of design and came up with the final design that spans 48' apart. In correspondence with this project's purpose of exploring joints, we use the concpet of interlocks and seek inspiration from traditional Chinese corbels. We also use Rhino to establish a 3D model and draw details in our shop drawings. The shop drawings shown are the overview of the entire model and assembly drawings finished by myself.
